We are proud to have Deputy John Cooper serving as our School Resource Officer. Deputy Cooper is present in our school five days a week, ensuring the safety and security of our students and staff.

A graduate of Northwest State Community College and a dedicated law enforcement professional since 2007, Deputy Cooper brings extensive experience to our school community. We are grateful to the Henry County Sheriff's Office for their partnership as we prioritize safety and security at Holgate Local Schools.

Safety Communication Guidelines
At Holgate Local Schools, we take pride in being a small district that prioritizes building strong relationships with our students. We encourage students to report any safety concerns immediately to a trusted adult at school as their first point of contact.

Parents are also able to report safety concerns to building principals by calling their respective offices or by email.

After-School Emergencies
If an emergency arises outside of school hours that cannot wait until the next school day, please contact the Henry County Sheriff's Office at 419-592-8010 for immediate assistance.

Reporting Bullying
Our goal is to support students in addressing issues before they escalate into bullying. We strongly encourage students to speak with a trusted adult at school as soon as they encounter any concerning behavior. This allows situations to be resolved early and effectively, preventing them from developing into bullying.

Bullying is intentional, repeated, and harmful behavior directed at another person, creating an imbalance of power. If the behavior meets this definition, and cannot be addressed by speaking with a trusted adult, anonymous forms are available by clicking here, or paper copies are located in the offices and outside the Nurse’s Clinic.

Anonymous Reporting
The Ohio School Safety Center (OSSC) offers the Safer Ohio School Tip Line at 844-723-3764, an anonymous reporting system available 24/7 for safety concerns that arise outside of school hours.

Your child’s safety is a top priority. We remain committed to providing a safe and supportive learning environment where every student can thrive. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out. Together, we can ensure a strong and safe community for our students.
Emergency Reunification Plan for Families

In the event of a school emergency, our top priority is the safety of all students and staff. To ensure a smooth and organized process, we ask parents and guardians to follow these steps and guidelines.

What is Reunification?

Reunification is the process of safely reuniting students with their parents or guardians after an emergency. Depending on the situation, this may happen on-campus or at an off-campus location. We use a structured method to account for all students, ensure their safety, and reunite them with authorized individuals.

Important Parent Instructions

  • Wait for Official Communication: Please do not come to the school until you receive instructions from us. Arriving early can make the situation more difficult for emergency responders and may delay reunification.

  • Follow the Instructions Provided: Once notified, you will be directed to a specific location for reunification. This may not always be at the school.

  • Bring Photo Identification: For safety reasons, students will only be released to parents or guardians listed on their emergency contact forms. Photo ID will be required to verify your identity.

On-Campus Reunification

If it is safe to stay at the school, students will remain on-site, supervised by staff, until they can be picked up by their parents or guardians.

Off-Campus Reunification

If the school is unsafe, students and staff will be relocated to a secure off-campus site. You will receive detailed instructions, including the location, through:

  • School Automated Messaging System
