Message from the Superintendent

It is a distinct honor to serve as the Superintendent of Holgate Local Schools. Raised in this wonderful community, I understand the proud traditions and tremendous family and community support that define our district. Holgate prides itself on providing small class sizes where student needs are met in a safe and nurturing environment built upon high academic and behavioral standards.

We are grounded in our vision: “Tiger Pride. Always!” This is more than a motto; it’s a mindset. It represents our commitment to giving 100% in all we do and taking pride in being Holgate Tigers.

Our mission, “Empowering each other, upholding traditions, and inspiring excellence,” guides the work of our staff every day. Whether in the classroom, on the field, or within the community, we are focused on developing well-rounded students who are prepared for life beyond high school.

Our core values, empathy, acceptance, unity, integrity, excellence, and pride reflect our commitment to the well-being of every student. We take a proactive approach to meeting the needs of the whole child academically, socially, and emotionally. Through strong relationships, classroom guidance lessons, and community programming we strive to create an environment where every Tiger can succeed.

It takes all of us: families, educators, and community members to build strong character in our students. We believe this can only be accomplished through meaningful partnerships and active engagement so that every student can reach their full potential.

At the heart of our educational approach are our Tiger Traits. These core competencies prepare our students to be successful and responsible citizens. These are intentionally taught, modeled, and reinforced throughout the learning process. Our Tiger Traits include:
  • Effective Communicator
  • Critical Thinker
  • Strong Work Ethic
  • Collaborative Teammate
  • Person of Integrity
As we continue our journey forward, I invite our families, alumni, and community members to partner with us. Help us model and reinforce these shared values by using the language of our strategic plan at home and in the community. Together, we can ensure that every student is surrounded by examples of what it means to show Tiger Pride. Always!

As superintendent, I remain dedicated to providing our employees with the support, professional development, and resources they need to help every student thrive. Each child deserves an education that equips them with the knowledge and skills necessary to achieve their goals.

With Tiger Pride,
Jessica Schuette
